Your Guide to My Mini Headshot Days

Thank you for joining me!
First of all, thank you for booking a mini headshot session with me! I absolutely love these sessions. They're a great way to create some beautiful, fresh photos of yourself without needing to spend a fortune or block out half your day.
If you're prepared, you can get a LOT out of 30 minutes. Or you can keep things simple and get just a few lovely images for your LinkedIn profile, website or social media. It's entirely up to you!
These sessions are designed to fit around your busy schedule and budget, while still giving you access to a beautiful natural-light studio and a collection of professional photos you'll feel great about using.
You don't need a huge list of things to photograph or a complicated plan. You just need a little preparation, a clear idea of what you need, and a willingness to have some fun in front of the camera. I'll take care of the rest.

How it works on the day
1. Arrive 10 minutes early
Please arrive about 10 minutes before your session so you have time to get yourself organised and ready to go.
There's a space inside the studio where you can hang your clothes and get sorted before we begin. I may still be photographing another client when you arrive, so don't worry if I'm busy when you walk in. We'll get to you shortly!
2. Have a little plan
This is where a little preparation goes a long way.
Before your session, have a think about what you actually need your photos for. Are you updating your website? Do you need a fresh LinkedIn profile photo? Perhaps you want a few different images for social media so you're not using the same photo everywhere for the next three years!
Having a clear idea of what you need helps us make the most of our time together.
If you have some inspiration images you'd like to recreate, even better! I've put together a Pinterest board featuring images I've photographed in this very studio. It's a great place to start because I've already photographed these looks in this space, so I know how to recreate them.
One little tip: don't go overboard with inspiration photos. I know Pinterest is a rabbit hole (we've all been there!), but too many ideas can become confusing when we're working to a 30-minute timeframe.
Try to stick to around 10 images you'd love to use as a reference. That gives us plenty of direction without overwhelming the session.
3. Let's take some beautiful photos!
Now for the fun part!
I'll guide you through posing, help you find the lovely light and make suggestions along the way. Please don't worry if you feel a little awkward in front of the camera. Most people do, and it's completely normal.
I promise there'll be no strange chin-out posing or making you stand in positions that feel completely unnatural. My approach is relaxed and natural, and I'll help you find poses that feel comfortable while still looking polished and professional.
The studio has beautiful natural light, which makes it such a lovely space for creating fresh, flattering portraits.
You'll also have time to change outfits once or twice, provided you're reasonably quick. Having your outfits ready and easy to change into will help us squeeze the most out of your session.
And remember, you don't need to know what to do. That's my job!
4. What happens after your session?
Once we've finished, I'll go through your images and carefully edit your photographs. Your finished images will be delivered within one week of your session, so you won't be waiting around for weeks wondering when you'll finally be able to update your website!
My editing style is very natural. I don't use Photoshop to change your appearance, and I don't do skin retouching. If you happen to have a little spot on the day, though, don't worry. I'm happy to remove temporary blemishes.
The aim is to create beautiful, flattering photographs that still look like you. No heavy retouching, no changing your face, and no looking at your photos wondering who that person is!
I want you to feel confident sharing your images, knowing you look like yourself on a really good day.

A few final tips
Wear something you feel good in. Choose clothes that suit your personality and the image you want to present in your business.
Prepare your outfits beforehand. Have everything clean, pressed and hanging up, ready for a quick change.
Know what you need. A little planning helps us prioritise the photos that will be most useful to you.
Keep your inspiration simple. Around 10 reference images is plenty.
Relax and trust the process. You don't need to be a natural in front of the camera. You just need to show up!

I'm looking forward to meeting you!
Mini headshot days are a little different from my usual sessions, and I don't offer them very often. They're designed to be a simple, affordable way to get some fresh professional photos without the time or expense of a longer shoot.
I'm so glad you've booked one, and I can't wait to create some beautiful images with you.
See you in the studio!
